Can satellites influence in our lifes?

Hi everyone! Welcome again to our blog. Today, we are talking about things that without them we couldn’t use the new technologies.
Do you know how the mobile phones send messages? Or how we can watch images on TV? Or how the CIA can get spy information of people?
These actions that we do every day are thanks to artificial satellites. (not natural satellites, like the moon or titan)
Artificial satellites are “space crafts” that orbit a celestial body to get information to it, or telecoms, etc…

The first satellite in history was Sputnik 1.  It was the first  Russian satellite to be launched, then Sputnik 2, was the second satellite in orbits and also the first one to have an animal on board, the dog Laika.

The program Sputnik was a series of unmanned space missions in the late 1950’s to show the viability of the satellites in orbit.
So thanks to Sputnik inventors, we can get information, watch TV, use GPS...
The satellites can influence people lives because 80% of the global population use new technologies ( phone, TV, radio....).
So we are talking about positive and negative facts about satellites.
On the one hand satellites are important because we can have pictures of the Earth, predict things in the future and know the weather.
But on the left hand satellites are very expensive to build, they send out radiation and it causes illness or disease like cáncer and premature aging. Some satellites storm your privacy like whattsapp messages and spy people. Also, when the satellites die and don´t have energy or the mission has finished, they become space rubbish.
We think the cheapest satellite can cost 45 million dollars and the most expensive cost 2.5 billion dollars.
In arts and crafts we have to do a project about satellites and we looked at the characteristics of one of these.

To get more information about satellites, we visited the ESAC (European Space Agency Centre) on the sixth of may. We saw miniatures, pictures, videos, antennas, etc.
They are experts and professionals, they explained to us better about this matter and now we have more information and knowledge. It was an educational and fun experience, we definitely recommend it to everyone who´s interested in this topic.
Thank you for reading our entry, we hope you liked it, and see you in the next post! Kisses and hugs.
